The funny title is from V. Tretyak [Tre11]. He excellently reviewed many evidences or claims for double beta decay without neutrinos since the 50’s, results which were never confirmed. The most recent claim in 2002 has been by Klapdor-Kleingrothaus, using data from the Heidelberg-Moscow collaboration [Kla02]; the paper has been signed only by part of the collaboration (as in some previous announcements) which is not a good sign. The results of the GERDA experiment in 2013 have definitively buried the signal [Ago13].
